Frequently Asked Questions
Not sure how our great system works? Well here are the answers to all your problems.
Well, the answers to all your questions anyway. Bear with us, we’re working on the answers to all your problems though.
1. What benefits do your strength & fitness programs provide? Why should I attend your programs?
a. We are very proud & extremely excited to be able to offer you THE LIFESTYLE YOU WISH TO LEAD!
The concept of our programs is NOT for you to simply be stronger & fitter enough to be able to attend the next session, but to have enough everyday functional strength & fitness to
- Have more energy to play with the kids / grandkids,
- Have more energy to do housework / gardening / renovations etc.
- Be happier with your own body,
- Have more self-confidence,
- To concentrate on your work,
- Increase your income,
If you are to look at the ideal lifestyle that you wish to lead, our strength & fitness programs offer you the foundation to be able to actually make it an actual reality.
2. What does ‘functional strength & fitness’ mean?
a. Functional strength & fitness is the ability to actually do the activities that are required in your current lifestyle. Everyone does everyday activities like lifting something heavy, possibly into the boot of your car, picking up a child up or carrying things while walking. These things require using your legs, keeping your back straight (possibly some twisting), pulling &/or pushing with your arms. What if you didn’t have the strength to do this? It’s extremely likely that an injury will occur, it’s not usually the actual event of lifting, reaching or twisting etc that causes injuries, it’s the lack of strength & understanding of how to use your body that leads you to the point of injury. Then you are no longer able to continue with the lifestyle you used to have.
And what if you were to do these activities repetitively, you would eventually become tired, fatigued & have to stop.
Our programs give you the ability & energy to perform these functional activities all day – everyday.
3. What if I’m not fit &/or strong enough to do the classes?
a. It doesn’t matter where you begin, all that matters is that you’re improving (or at least not going backwards). The entire concept for us in the fitness industry is to help you achieve your strength & fitness goals. We do this by motivating you to try to do just that little bit more than what you’re currently capable of. Regardless of whether you can run 10 meters or 10 kilometres, can do half a sit-up or 100 sit-ups, we are qualified, experienced & 100% passionate about supporting you to try for just that little bit more.
It isn’t what you do, it’s putting the effort in that increases your strength & fitness.
And we do all this in a fun & social environment that makes the whole process enjoyable. If it wasn’t enjoyable, no one would return, & if no one returned we would not be here today.
Don’t worry, EVERYONE starts off feeling unfit & weak when they start with us. However everyone ALWAYS finishes our programs feeling much stronger & fitter. That’s a fact!
4. Will I hold others back from doing their training?
a. Not at all. We structure ALL of our programs to accommodate ALL levels of strength & fitness. You can’t possibly hold anyone back because everyone is given an exercise or activity that is designed for them. You will be given something that is specific for your needs & wants. This is done in a group environment, however you are all working to your own individual levels.
5. What if I have an injury or condition that prevents me from doing some of the activities?
a. To come across someone without ANY sort of injury or condition, is quite rare. Not only do we look at our programs great for general strength & fitness improvements, we also consider them excellent for injury rehabilitation & prevention. All of our instructors are qualified & experienced to modify & adapt (largely by a process of difficulty progression or regression) the activities & exercises to suit YOUR individual needs.
Before you begin any sort of training with us, we ask that you complete a Pre-Exercise Questionnaire. Your answers then give us the information we need to make sure we know how to best improve your situation. Worst case scenario you may need to gain clearance from a medical professional. However this is a good thing because that will also give us more specialized info again on how to best improve your situation.
6. Will I be made to feel welcome?
a. Without a shadow of a doubt! We understand how lonely it can be in a group (& so does EVERYONE else, because we have all been there). Everyone also understands that the motivating factor for each individual is the group dynamic. Therefore every individual in that group, wants to make you feel welcome & special (because you are) so that there is more in the group to provide more motivation for everyone. It’s such a positive – vicious cycle that keeps improving & improving & improving the benefits to everyone.
7. Can I try a class to help me make up my mind?
a. Absolutely! We call this a FREE Come & Try session. Regardless of whether you were thinking of signing up anyway, we encourage everyone to attend their first session for FREE. We would much rather you give the session a go first so that you are 100% comfortable that what you are handing your hard earned money over for is exactly what you were expecting.
8. Do I have to attend a Free Come & Try?
a. No. Some people do prefer to commit financially first, as that becomes their own form of motivation to attend. You are welcome to that if that is what works for you. However if there is any uneasiness about that the offer for a Free Come & Try is always there & encouraged.
9. Once I want to continue, do I need to book?
a. Yes definitely. It’s very important to understand that booking into a session isn’t necessarily for receiving the delivery of the actual session, it’s to reserve your position in THAT session. If you do not book in beforehand, the class may actually be booked up & there may not be any places for you.
It is always such a shame to have to turn people away once they are motivated to improve their lifestyles & have driven (sometimes ran or ridden their bike) all that way & have to leave empty-handed.
10. What happens if I just show up?
a. Hopefully there is a place in the class, however there may not be enough equipment to complete every exercise or activity. It may be that you can’t attend, or that you will have to do modified activities or exercises.
This may also need to be considered a ‘casual’ class. See ‘How much are the classes?’ for the casual rate.
11. How do I book?
a. Booking is simple & easy. All we need to know is:
1. What class(es) you wish to attend each week
i.e. Program name, day & time
2. For how many weeks
3. If there are any special notes we need to know
i.e. “I can’t attend this date ….. so would like to change to …..”
It is important that we receive it in writing so that there is no confusion. Email is usually best, however a written note delivered to your instructor or mailed to the office will also work.
12. How long to do I have to use up these sessions?
a. To provide you with some flexibility around your schedule, we offer you an extra week to use up your sessions. If you book in for 4 weeks we will give you 5 weeks to use them. If you book in for 20 week you have 21.
13. What if my schedule won’t allow me to book in advance?
a. There are several options available to you in this situation & we may be able to tailor a package to suit your individual needs. Contact us for more information.
14. How much are the classes?
a. 1 session per week costs $15 per session
2 sessions per week costs $14 per session
3 sessions per week costs $13.50 per session
4 or more sessions per week costs $12.50 per session
Casual classes cost $20 per session
All fees are inclusive of GST
15. Are there any discounts available?
a. Yes.
Family Discount: If you join with 1 or more immediate family members (spouse, child or sibling) then the total amount of sessions per week is added together & you each pay that price per session
i.e. 3 people in the one family, each attending 1 session per week will be individually charged at the 3 sessions per week rate.
Concession Discount: If you have a student or pension card then all sessions are $11 (GST inclusive).
16. How do I pay?
a. Once we have received your booking info, we lock your name against those sessions & send you out an invoice.
You can then transfer the full amount via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) through internet banking,
Your full name &/or invoice number required for the reference please (otherwise we cannot possibly know who sent the money & can only consider it a donation for our hand work J).
Send us a cheque,
Or cash.
Cash or cheques handed to your instructor will require them to be placed in a sealed envelope with your name, the amount in the envelope & invoice number written on the front please.
17. When do I have to pay by?
a. Payment in full is required before commencement of your first session. Without your fee being paid, you may not be covered by insurance & we may not be able to allow you to train. For your safety & for others.
18. What happens if I’m late to a session?
a. If you arrive after the session has begun, you may be required to complete a warm up activity by yourself before joining the rest of the group. You may not get the full benefit of the session, however, a portion of a session is better than none at all.
19. What if I know I’m going to miss a session?
a. We understand that sometimes life gets in the way of your training & everyone has other priorities like family & work commitments that need to be balanced with your strength & fitness training.
If you know in advance that you are going to miss a session, you are required to let your instructor &/or the office know as soon as possible.
If your session begins before 10am, then you are required to let us know prior to the commencement of that session.
If your session begins after 10am, then you are required to let us know 2 hours prior to the commencement of that session.
You are then required to contact us to move your booking to another session if there is room.
20. What if I injure myself at home or work etc & need to miss several sessions?
a. Let’s hope this never happens, however the fact is that it sometimes does. If this happens, all we ask is that you let us know as soon as possible & producing a medical certificate with the dates you were unable to attend training due to your injury/condition & the dates they believe you will be able to return. Regardless of how long that is, we will credit you your missed session for when your able to return.
21. What if I miss a session & have not been able to inform my instructor &/or the office?
a. If we know in advance that you cannot make it to a session, we are then able to allocate your position in that session to someone else.
Even if you do not attend, your position has still been made available to you & your fee will still count towards that session.
22. How am I able to get my instructors contact details?
a. It is not possible for us to publish our instructors private contact details. It is up to you to request their details either directly to them or through the office.
23. What if I miss a session & it has just been impossible to let you know before the time?
a. As long as you contact us as soon as possible after the fact & explain your situation, we may be able to re-credit you your session. However a $10 fee may apply if applicable. As we understand that there are about a million & 1 reasonable reasons for not being able to attend a session, please feel free to contact us for further info regarding this.
24. I’m still confused. Why do you require these sessions to be booked?
a. EVERYTHING we do at LIFE FORCE Strength and Fitness Training, is all structured towards motivating you to train at your best. The more you put in, the more you get out.
We obviously cannot (nor do we want to) make you do anything that you do not want to do. What we can do however is provide a motivating experience for you to actually want to put the effort in. It’s a darn good thing we do it so well actually
. So while you’re in our session, your instructor will pull out every trick in the book to get you to enjoy the process & want to put the effort in so that you can reap the rewards later.
The booking system is yet another way of providing you with motivation to put the effort in. Although there are always exceptions to the rule, it’s usually human nature to want to take it easy. Especially when you first begin your training program, if it is too cold, too hot, too early, too late, you’re too tired & just not in the mood (& let’s be honest, who always feels in the mood to exercise all the time?) then it is just too easy to say to yourself “I’ll go next time”. Before you know it, you’re saying that every week & you don’t get the results your after.
As we said before, not everyone is like this, however there are some who are!
This system forces you to come out. The good news is that by the time the warm up finishes & you’re into the first activity or exercise, the brain releases endorphins (the hormone which makes you happy) & you suddenly become in the mood for your training & you are so happy with yourself for coming. That’s not me talking now, that’s science!
We certainly hear it before a session how someone isn’t in the mood before a session, however it ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, happens where they are so glad they came out. Always!
If it wasn’t true, we would have people continuously coming out for the past 4 years would we?
